TODAY IN THE NEWS
Fee For Trash: Philly is contemplating charging $5 a week for trash pick-up. At first it sounded ridiculous but I actually wouldn't be against it...if the estimates they proposed are correct. If it would actually raise $85 to $105 million a year that could help the city get out of debt..that's a decent amount. And really 5 bucks really isn't a lot. So who knows if it'll actually go through. Whatever helps to get us out of this craphole of a recession.
Chinese Mistress Contest: Some people really have no morals. And everyone gets affected by the economic crisis in some way. A married Chinese man had five mistresses and could no longer afford them all. Since he couldn't decide which one to keep he held a contest. He had some model agent be the judge (he can't judge himself?). They were judged on looks, how they sang, and how much alcohol they could hold (awesome priorities). Well the first girl who was kicked out of the contest tricked the guy and the other 4 mistresses to get into a car with her where she drove them all off a cliff. Crazy lady was the only one who died.
Facebook No Longer Owns Everyone: Yesterday there were news stories about Facebook's new Terms of Use policy. They changed it to say that even if you cancel your account with Facebook, they have permission to use everything you've ever posted. Only a day later they guy who invented Facebook came out saying they temporarily went back to their old Terms of Use after receving a ridiculous amount of complaints. Of course people are gonna complain...well obviously they should realizing what they're putting on there in the first place but once you cancel/close your account you should be dunzo with everthing. Ugh I hate how much Facebook is taking over everything. My dad actually mentioned this whole to me last night. You know something is huge and mainstream to the extreme if my dad knows about it.
LOTR Rules Them All: Yahoo! apparetly had a tournament type poll for readers to vote on their favorite Oscar winning Best Picture movie. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King won. It beat The Godfather in the final. I can't really have a legit opinion on this, even though i <3 LOTR, because my knowledge of Oscar movies and classic movies and such is so not advanced enough. All I know is LOTR almost lost to Forrest Gump. Say what?! I never really saw what was so great about that movie.
BB Gun In The Butt: Yeah...shooting your kid with a BB gun because he won't get out of the way of the TV fast enough isn't "horseplay." Ugh people.
